Nicolas Rubio

Based in New York, Nicolas is Chief Executive Officer North America.

Before joining Meridiam in March 2021, he was the Director of Operations at Cintra, the investment arm of Ferrovial, overseeing the development and implementation of strategy in all technical, operational, innovation, environmental, quality, and health and safety domains both for existing and for prospective assets.

From 2009 to 2016 as US President, he led Cintra US operations from its headquarters in Austin, Texas, developing and managing over $12 bn of infrastructure assets, including state-of-the-art Managed Lanes projects North Tarrant Express, LBJ Express and I-35W Express in Texas in partnership with Meridiam. As head of business development prior to moving to Texas, he had led the team that secured these projects through their procurement phase.

Nicolas has over three decades of international leadership within the private infrastructure and construction sectors. In his first decade working as a contractor he managed bridge, tunnel, dam, sports and industrial projects, spending four years as head of the Tunisian branch of Ferrovial. His experience in North America started in 1999 with the award of 407 ETR highway in Canada. In his career he has been involved in the development of over 150 private infrastructure projects spanning more than 30 countries.

In 2010 he was awarded the “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association for his role promoting PPPs for transportation in the United States. In 2017 he was selected by the National Council for PPPs as part of America’s Top 10 P3 Transportation Infrastructure Pioneers.

Nicolas holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain.
